A Designer’s Take on Social Distancing
“It isn’t the end of the world - it is the most remarkable act of global solidarity we may ever witness in our lifetime. Under the shelter of each other, people survive.”
–Tommy Holland, West Belfast community worker
During the COVID 19 crisis, we are all looking for ways to connect – not just with our customers, but simply with each other. Our team at Bradley Brown Design Group has found that these moments of connection remind us that we are all in this together. That’s why we are starting the Creative Connections blog series. We want to share experiences, knowledge and laughter as well as challenges navigating this new normal. Simply put, this series is our way of saying we are here for you.
White Space
Being designers, we can’t help but liken white space in design to social distancing. And, now we have to leave white space in the world with 6 feet of space between us and others. But perhaps this white space isn’t a bad thing. As in design, perhaps it is really just pointing us toward what is important in life, giving us room to breathe and protecting us and each other.
When you go out and see the white space in empty streets, empty parks and empty playgrounds, what you are seeing is how much we care for each other and for people we will never meet.
